Quaid e Azam International Hospital, Islamabad, Pakistan (A tertiary care center), is a state of art 300 bed hospital catering for public and private sector covering patients from twin cities (Rawalpindi/Islamabad), The emergency department is fully functional & equipped with modern facilities for patients and with rapid turnover of patients, dealing with all the acute illnesses in adults and trauma, including COVID illness. Responsibilities: Here I am involved in: Managing critical patients including resuscitation according to ACLS/PALS/ATLS Protocols. Managing the Emergency Room independently in various shifts, comprising of morning, evening and nights duties. Managing junior and senior ER Physicians in their shifts with teaching, training and managing active Cases. Actively manage and take care of COVID-19 cases. Liaise with the Director ER, and the CEO for direct approvals, reports, to establish & follow Guidelines and protocols of the department. Accomplishments: Working as full time at various shifts as a Team Leader, training junior doctors, and supervising the nurses and colleague doctors during the shift. Have successfully treated and managed COVID-19 cases as per the updated guidelines.

This is a tertiary care REFERRAL Center, ACHSI accredited, with heavy patient turnout and am covering both Adult and Pediatric Emergencies independently and as a part of team. Here Canadian Triage is followed, and patients are accordingly given levels. This is a 30 bedded emergency, 8 bedded pediatric room expandable to more as per the patient influx needs, and 3 bed specialized trauma/resuscitation bay, with well-equipped monitors and ventilators, and a short stay unit with a capacity of 10 beds. Initially I was under supervision of the consultants and overtime after gaining experience, have been managing the patients independently. Here I have been involved in: Managing the critical patients including the resuscitation according to the ACLS/PALS/ATLS protocols. Managing the pediatric emergency room independently. I do all the procedures in the ED including pediatric Lumbar punctures for neonatal sepsis, intubations, catheterization apart from applying the slabs, splints and supports and fracture or dislocation reductions using procedural sedation. Also have gained experience and can perform FAST scans in trauma patients. Also involved in various departmental activities and have been carrying duties being educational coordinator of the Emergency Dept. I had been selected by my Head of the department for establishing and successfully fulfilling the duties to make “Emergency Department Manual” for the hospital, and lay down guidelines of various treatment protocols, guidelines & pathways for the adult & pediatric emergency care, short stay unit, and dead-on arrival policy. I have been involved in teaching & training the medical students and nurses of Arabian Gulf University & RCSI, junior residents and other staffs in practical procedures and teaching BLS according to AHA protocol being BLS Instructor of the hospital. Accomplishments: Gained experience and trained well in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Successfully made Policy & Procedure for the department, which is currently been followed. Have actively fulfilled the duties as an Education Activity Coordinator of the dept. Trained young doctors and nurses from RCSI & Arabian Gulf University for Basic Life Support & First Aid Courses from American Heart Association
