My specialist interest is laparoscopic surgery and I am fully trained and competent in performing many laparoscopic procedures including Gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. In addition I had performed  many Laparoscopic surgical procedures which include:

  1. General Surgery:

I have performed different general surgical procedures, which include:

  • Head and neck procedures:  superficial
  • Thyroid: lobectomy, subtotal and total thyroidectomy.
  • Breast: Total mastectomy with axillary evacuation, conservative breast surgery, major duct excision and subcutaneous mastectomy.
  • Hernia: Inguinal, paraumbilical and incisional hernioplasty, including redo hernia surgery.
  • Oesophago-Gastro-Duodenal procedures: Subtotal oesophagectomy with partial gastrectomy, total and subtotal radical gastrectomy, truncal vagotomy with gastrojejunostomy or pyloroplasty, Heller cardiomyotomy, Nissen Fundoplication and gastrostomy.
  • Portal hypertension: Splenectomy and devascularization.
  • Hepato-biliary and pancreatic procedures: Pancreatico-deudenectomy and hepatic resections,          hepaticojejunostomy, choledochoduodenostomy, cholecystojejunostomy, cholecystectomy and common bile duct exploration.
  • Intestinal and colorectal procedures: Small intestinal resection and anastomosis, right and left hemicolectomies, total colectomies, colostomies and ileostomies, anterior and abdomino-perineal resections and appendectomies.
  • Emergency Abdominal Surgery: Laparotomy for trauma, GIT bleeding and peritonitis.
  • During my training I had assisted and gained experience in many Paediatric, Plastic and Vascular procedures.

    Job plan and duties - I had been working as a Consultant of General and Laparoscopic surgery at KFMMC, JCI accredited Military Hospital, since December 2016. - My job plan involved daily ward rounds, whole day theatre list and conducting general surgery clinic. - I was on the on call rota for acute surgical care management at KFMMC which is a busy tertiary trauma centre. - I was a member in the Research and Ethical Committee in the hospital. - I was also a member in the Anaesthesia and Surgery care Committee responsible for effective quality control in theatres. - I have specialist interest in scientific research in the field of general and bariatric surgery presenting and publishing in International conferences and peer reviewed Journals . - I had been working as a specialty doctor (Senior Clinical Fellow) for 2 and half years in the biggest bariatric unit in the UK (City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust) which is performing about 600 bariatric procedures per year. It is one of the top Trusts in the UK providing bariatric service to the North East and Yorkshire Region. - I had my specialist training in Bariatric Surgery at this unit mentored by senior Bariatric Surgeons. I had been actively involved in theatres, bariatric clinics and weekly MDT Bariatric meeting with my colleagues, endocrinologist and dietitians discussing simple and complicated bariatric patients . - I had worked as a registrar of general surgery at different UK hospitals gaining experience in general, laparoscopic and emergency surgery. - I had finished my basic training of general and emergency surgery at Cairo University Hospitals which is one of the most famous and renowned hospital in the Middle East. - I had been appointed as a lecturer of general surgery at Beni Suef University- Egypt in 2007 - I am participating regularly in teaching medical students and junior residents in all my posts at Saudi Arabia, UK and Egypt
